Greetings all of you fine BEML people out there, as well as those of you that may happen by!

It is with great pleasure I bring the news of the Season 6 BEML Base division championships!!!! That's right folks..it is finally down to the remaining 2 tribes and boy what a match it shall be. For those of you that don't much follow things I'll clue you in on this fine event. First off you should know that our #1 regular season finisher, Zero Hour is squareing off against our #2 regular season finisher Absolut Zero.

Now what makes this even more interesting is that this is the exact same championship we had last season! ZH took A0 in 3 maps, but it was hardly an easy task. Earlier in the regular season ZH defeated A0 2-0-1 on the maps DBF (0-0), Quagmire (4-0) and WoodyMyrk(7-0).

It's sure to be a great match as A0 has really kicked it up a notch mid-late season and pulled out a lot of consecutive wins, showing some great organised attacks and awesome plays. ZH has always been steady in their play..keeping their opponents behind them and not letting up; however, they recently took on the classic league (impressively) and we all know that playing base after classic sometimes hinders your willingness to trudge across the map.

Let's add some more interesting tidbits...A0 has chosen the map that they lost to ZH earlier in the season, Quagmire! ZH has picked Drifts and Beach Blitz..2 maps that suit their play style well, but....A0 has some great Light Defense and MFers which is a huge part of both the maps ZH picked!! Man can you feel the excitement this match is sure to have!

Look for this awesome showdown on Tuesday, July 1st at 9:30pmEST. Drop by #thebeml on irc.dynamix.com to get information as it is received and more importantly, this match may be T2TVed. ZH will be a tough nut to crack, but if anyone can do it..it has to be A0. Good Luck to both teams and look for an interview from both team captains in the near future.

Shoutout to all the BEML teams for participating in this season and to all those that are returning. Congrats go out to BEE, HOR, ONE, AC, Geez and 57th for makeing it into the playoffs.

You might have noticed some new statistics in the Standings pages for each division. Aluzion was kind enough to write in some new statistic calculating stuff so we could see the standings in more detail.

For those that asked for it, a pure win percentage was added. This is shown in the first column of the Standings as "Win %". The following calculation is being used for this stat: Win % =(Wins / (Wins + Ties + Losses) * 100).

******Please note that standings are still going to be based on point total!!******

The second column, "Points Back" is basically the same as "Games back" in the professional sports. The first number given is how many maps/games a team is behind the clan IMMEDIATELY ahead of them in the standings. The second number given (in parentheses) is how many maps/games behind the first place team a clan is. So, for example, in the CTF Base season Standings:

Rank Team Win% Points Back Wins Ties Losses Points
1...}ZH{.}Zero Hour{................. 82.1...0.(0)....................32.......2.........5.........33.0
2...-=Ao=- Absolut Zero.............79.5 1.5 (1.5).............31.......1..........7........31.5
3...{BEE} Blood Eagle Elders....74.4 1 (2.5).................29.......3..........7........30.5
4...[HOR] Horsemen..................66.7 2.5 (5).................26.......4..........9........28.0

ZH is in first place, so is 0 maps behind anyone, and is 0 maps out of first place.
Ao is 1.5 maps behind ZH, and is 1.5 map out of first place.
BEE is 1 map behind Ao, and is 2.5 maps out of first place.
HOR is 2.5 maps behind BEE, and is 5 maps out of first place.
And so on.

This might help towards the end of the season when a team wants to know just how far out they are from the playoffs or from the team in front of them. In any case, it also looks pretty cool. :) Thanks to Aluzion for the extra work.

We've recently added some new members to the Staff. I would like to thank {BEE}Monger[IO], {BEE}Daolin[LP], {BEE}Sentry Killer[ES], and [XMEN]Asha'Man-DTM for dedicating their time and efforts to assist the league. Monger will assume the duties of Forum moderator, asissting ScratchMonkey. Daolin will become Orions New Assistant and will hopefully spice things up a bit on the web page in the news world. Sentry Killer and Asha'Man will assume the duties of TIWL's in BF'42 and T2 respectively.

Please welcome the Desert Rats as our newest members! They have completed all their TIW requirements and passed the voting (unanimously I might add!) required to gain entrance as a full member team. Please make them welcome. I hope their stay is a long and pleasant one. (Except when they play the XMEN-those guys just aren't right-and that's you're only warning!)

In the fourth annual Dueling Tournament, Gorak defeated Ben Dover (more recently known as Cliche) to become out latest dueling champion. A hearty congratulations to both contestants for coming so far!

Look forward to next seasons Tournament where Gorak will defend his title from all comers.

The Staff recently met to discuss many topics that have come up in the league over the past couple of months. Many of these topics have been resolved in what we feel is a positive manner. Here's a basic update of what was decided:

The BEML is most likely going to move to a new website host in the very near future. Hopefully this will resolve many web issues we have here in the BEML. We are gathering all the information necessary, and will then make an informed decision about where to move to. Should you have suggestions, please mail them to a staff member.

We are also looking into alternatives again for the EZBoard. Nothing has been decided yet until we resolve the webhosting issue though.

We are expanding the Staff due to the growing league size. There is a post in the Members Forum explaining which positions are open. Should you be interested, please check it out.

The Arena League will begin having tournaments much like the Dueling tournament (with the exception of probably being better run). If we begin getting enough interest in these tournaments, we will certainly entertain the idea of beginning a full competition division.

The Tribes2 scoring system was discussed again. The decision was made to stay with the current system we have.

In the BattleField world, several decisions were reached. A screenshot will be required from each member at the beginning of each map, much like the TWL rule. These screenshots will be sent to the MA storage "facility", same as the demos for T2 are.

The scoring system will remain using the ticket count. However, the map selection process will be changing. In the future, before each season, each Team will be required to rank the maps from "most wanted" to "least wanted". A scoring system will be used to rank each map after all the lists are gathered. The top "x-1" maps (where "x" equals the number of teams in the season) wil be used for competition play. These maps will be generated in random order for each team. Doing so will ensure that the total ticket count is equalized for each team by the end of the season. We are also considering using the same map for each competition match during a week, eg. playing Kharkov for week one, Tobruk for week two, etc. This is still under discussion however.

There will be a meeting as discussed among all the teams involved in the BF pre-season. We will be going over any problems encountered as well as rule changes if necessary. The map selection method will also be discussed here. If you have something you wish to bring up, make a note of it and send it to Spectre so he can add it to his meeting docket. Otherwise, it might not be brought up due to time constraints.

I want to thank the Staff for their hard work and dedication to the BEML community as a whole. I can't say enough what a privilege it is to have these fine people working for the league with such vigor. Please remember that these are the people that make many things possible here, so let's give them all a hearty and much deserved thanks for all their efforts!

Gorak and Ben Dover have both advanced to the winners circle of the Dueling Tournament. Only one will emerge standing. Best of luck to both competitors!!

I apologize for the recent webpage difficulties. This is a problem with the current host of the web page and no fault of Aluzion's excellent programming. The Staff is having a meeting very soon and this problem has a high priority. Hopefully we can get this resolved quickly so that this problem doesn't happen again. Again, I humbly apologize to all BEML members for the webpages lack of availability and ask for your patience regarding the matter.

It's come down to the final four duelers! Round Four needs to be finished up by the end of this week, so make sure you get your match in.

Ben Dover vs. Cav Scout
Dakotah vs. Gorak

If you haven't already noticed, the pre-season for BF'42 begins this week! Make sure you get your matches in. For all the new teams, these matches will be counted toward your TIW obligations, so make sure you're there and that your trigger-finger is ready!
